FREQUENCY OF POLYHYDRAMNIOS DETECTED ON ULTRASONOGRAPHY DURING 2ND AND 3RD TRIMESTER OF PREGNANCY

Background: Polyhydramnios is the excessive accumulation of amniotic fluid. Ultrasound used in this disease for the detection of excess of amniotic fluid. Objective(s): To determine frequency of polyhydraminos on ultrasonography in 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy. Material and Method: A total of 58 patients who visited the radiology department of Fatima Memorial Hospital, Lahore were examined. Ultrasound was used to determine the frequency of polyhydramnios. Results: All patients were female. Out of 58 patients, mean age was 28.62±3.636 years. Out of total 58 patients, 24 (40.7%) with Polyhydramnios and 34 (57.6%) without Polyhydramnios. Conclusion(s): The conclusion of this study is that polyhydramnios leads to fetal malformation. Ultrasound is the examination of choice which is used in this disease for the detection of excess of amniotic fluid.
